Clear Choices..

One of the things on my crave list is lucite. I love its utter ability to float in a space. There are times in design that we need lighten up the weight or at least give the appearance of more air space, and lucite does the trick. I love that it comes in modern styles as well as classic lines. Its not only limited to furniture, it finds its way into accessories, hardware and lighting as well. Let's take a walk on the light side and check out some of my favorite clear choices. Have a great weekend and stay warm if you live in the Northeast!

Feeling Knotty!

It's a cold day in the North East! There is snow on the ground and my back hurts from shoveling. I can't help but think of warmer days and all things Summer. A few things always remind me of the Summer and that is anything organic and made of rope.  Yes, I guess I am feeling a bit knotty! I love accessories out of rope, even furniture and lighting as well. What reminds you of warmer days?
Here are a few of my favorite knotty beauties for the home, enjoy!

Nothing Boring About Beadboard!

Some people may think that bead board is boring. Not I!  I love the clean simplicity and durability of bead board. It looks great from floor to ceiling or in between. I also think it makes a fabulous ceiling. There are different styles of bead board that may suit each person's individual taste. Bead board can range from traditional to modern. It may come in tongue and groove or more economical full sheet which is less time consuming to install.  We have full wall bead board in our mudroom/laundry area because it is visited the most by our furry friends and it is very easy to clean. We are choosing to do this in my friends mud room as well about 3/4 quarter way up wall in the 8 inch spread to give it a more modern feel and trying to push the Channel Bead to her traditional Hubby. This way we can paint and hang some lovely art on the wall space that remains.  What style bead board do you like? Check out the different styles that make bead board fun not boring.

Below are different grooves that make each sheet of board lean toward modern, traditional or transitional. All samples are from www.beadboard.com (Natucket Beadboard) except for last image which is my mudroom.

We love how durable it is and it gives the old mudroom a clean edge from floor to ceiling.

Red Done Right!

It's everywhere!  There are touches of red and pink for Valentines Day promoting love and romance.  How about a little romance at home? When red is done right it's darn right romantic! Red is a tricky little color. The wrong red used with the wrong colors can leave a room looking off balance and a bit I dare say "garish".  However when the real depth of red is used or a lovely counter part such as pink with colors such as black, turquoise, deep yellow,  lively green, or blue, watch out you have a winner.
Here a few ways that red was used just right. How would you add red to a room for that "wow" factor? Have a great weekend everyone!

Cant fine my source from Pinterest! Love this whomever this belongs too!
